About Friendly Farm Restaurant

Sometimes, the best dining experiences are hidden away in the most unlikely places. Take a drive to Upperco, Maryland, and there sits the Friendly Farm Restaurant. Nestled at 17434 Foreston Rd, this charming establishment lures in diners not just with its hearty meals, but with its picturesque country backdrop. An ideal spot for those who savor a mix of good food and a scenic view.

Upon arrival, the setting exudes warmth synonymous with its name. Inside, the traditional dining hall ambiance sets the stage for a classic American comfort food extravaganza. Friendly Farm proudly sticks to family-style servings, ensuring that everyone at the table leaves with full bellies and happy hearts. Known for superbly cooked fried chicken and succulent roast beef, the offerings here cater to all tastes. For those with seafood on the mind, the crab cakes are not to be missed. They absolutely steal the show with their perfect blend of crab and delicate seasoning.

The menu, though brimming with old-timey favorites, strikes a balance between variety and nostalgia. Fresh garden vegetables accompany meals, adding that touch of home-cooked goodness. While many spots try too hard to impress with culinary theatrics, Friendly Farm opts for simplicity and heartfelt flavors, a decision that clearly resonates well with its patrons. And don’t forget to leave room for dessert. Word around town says their homemade pie could make anyone weak at the knees.

No review can overlook the setting, which almost transports diners back to simpler times. Whether seated by large windows or outside in the rustic open-air space, guests are treated to rolling farmland views, enhancing the relaxed dining experience. It’s no surprise that reviews frequently highlight not just the food but also the wholesome nature of the entire visit. After all, it’s a place where both families and solo adventurers feel welcome to pause and enjoy Maryland’s countryside charm.

For anyone exploring the outskirts of Maryland, Friendly Farm offers an oasis of hearty meals and a vast embrace of Americana. It’s the kind of place one hears about through word of mouth and actively seeks out, proving that not only is the journey worth it, but the destination is equally rewarding.

Everyone mainly mentions the food and the service, well it's because it's simply the finest you'll find of any family restaurant anywhere. We are always trying to find people who have never been here before as an excuse to go again. (Not that you need one) But to see the look on their faces as they experience it for the first time. But I want to mention the thrill on my daughter's face. It's a true adventure each and every time we come. And don't forget to take some of it home with you. Like iced raisin bread!!!

Good food, friendly efficient staff and pleasant country views. Included starters were sweet buns, Apple butter, slaws, and cottage cheese. The crab cake had lumps and the chicken was juicy. Sides were hot and fresh served family style. Everyone gets a scoop to finish off the meal.

I took my wife and Mother out for mother's day dinner here. I feel like we go every year lol. It's a nice drive to get there, probably about an hour but worth the meal. Since it was Mothers day it was packed. People waiting inside and outside. Nice area outside to walk around and enjoy the view. Our wait was about 50 mins before we got seated. If you never been there before you will pay for your meal before you are seated. If you ask me...every restaurant should do this. We always get the crabcakes. My wife got two crabcakes for $60 and I got one for $33 . My Mom got some kind of country ham for $24. The sides are endless. Starts with cold sides like pears, apple butter, cottage cheese, cole slaw and rolls. Then they bring green beans, corn and fries. All the food was great. Never a complaint. Crab cakes were excellent. Corn was great. Ham was good. Etc etc etc . Server was very nice. Looking past the crowdiness the atmosphere inside was nice. They sell pies and gourmet candies in the waiting area. I'm posting a few photos. Not the best pics but after waiting almost an hour to be seated all I could think about was eating lol. So we may have started before taking pics crossed my mind. Giving 5 out 5 stars.

Absolutely love this place if you want all American food with a taste of Maryland this is where to go. It's out in farm country, simple farm vibes. My second time coming here. Got the crab cakes and fried chicken(got this last time too, worth) both were seasoned well and cooked perfectly. They do simple things right, is the best way to describe this place. You pay one meal per person, I think you can share for extra charge, but sides and drinks are included/unlimited. Good deal IMO. Worth the side trip off 95 if going back and forth from NY area to DC.

The first time was an extended family meal and it was so good that Mom and i had to return for the chicken since she didn't get it the first time and we were all raving about it and i was craving it again already! Have to say that the service wasn't as fast the second time but the food was consistently hot, fresh and delicious! Will i return.. i sure plan on it even though i live in texas!

I don’t know how I’ve never done a review on this delicious restaurant. My family has been coming here for years and the food has never lost quality or taste. Friendly farm has the BEST crab cake and chicken out there! The crab cake is all lump…literally! The chicken is fresh and fried to perfection and not greasy. Everything is served family style with delicious appetizers such as my personal favorites the sugar biscuits and fried apples. The dinner sides are also family style including fries, fresh corn, and green beans. And we can’t forget about the ice cream dessert with many flavors to choose from. The staff are always nice too! I have always had positive dining experiences here and would highly recommend to anyone!

This place is a peaceful little escape with incredible service! Our server was genuinely kind, attentive, and so thoughtful about the gluten- and dairy-free needs at our table. She made us feel totally taken care of and kept a big smile on her face the whole time. Absolutely amazing! The food was delicious, and you’ll get lot of it. You definitely won’t leave hungry! It’s got somewhat of an old-school charm, but that’s part of what makes it feel so warm and authentic. The view overlooking the fields and pond is beautiful as well and adds to the relaxing countryside vibe. Another thing I really appreciated is that you pay before you eat, which I wish more restaurants offered. I loved this place and can’t wait to come back!
